Found this article really interesting and thought some of you would find it useful:
Hmm, an interesting article. Thank you for sharing @Kakoli Majumder
I know I have been turning to look at start-up opportunities as funding in academia is scarce. However, perhaps because I am trying to stick to my niche area so don't know if it's a general thing, I have found that the start ups aren't looking for researchers/engineers. Either they don't have the money or they are looking to expand their business side to aid growth.
Now, perhaps this is because the start-ups in my specific field are started by scientists/engineers?
Having said all of this, everyone bar one person in my lab who has moved on has moved on to a role in a start up. They have all branched out into various start-ups away from their exact field of research.
Would love to hear other people's experiences!
