Hi! It's great to be here. I am Jayashree and I am part of the R Voice team. How do I introduce myself? Well, I work at CACTUS with a fabulous bunch of people who're passionate about the same things. I am a keen follower of discussions around academic mental health and wellbeing and can talk almost endlessly on the topic. I've been part of the scholarly publishing industry for over 15 years and had have a lot of interesting and eye-opening conversations with researchers.

I am also quite crazy about visual storytelling, fiction writing, and reading! I worship Terry Pratchett, and the television series I can watch for the 50th time or more is the BBC version of Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice.

My world is pretty much ruled by my cat BIRA - who has something new to teach me every day. He has brought a lot of peace, affection, and self-care into my life at a time when I thought I might have given up on everything.

Lovely cat Jayashree<3 Let’s make him our wellness mascot:) I’m a media and communications researcher with a focus on social anthropology, so spaces like this are where I find myself mostly. I live in a green town of West Germany and lucky to be able to take lovely walks, follow nature trails everyday in the last year (pic attached). I think this will be epic of the pandemic times since most work happen at home and we do find our ways to enjoy nature. This, of course, is said with delicacy on my side since I know there are many folks who can not enjoy the same moments or have other extra-caring responsibilities which prevent them from taking personal time away from everything. All positive vibes for courage and energy go to those folks around the globe. For them, we are thankful and feel respect. Good to be a part of this adventure and warm community. Hang in there while you can:)

Thanks @Isurika Sevwandi He's currently trying to play with the curtain that's slapping his face in the strong breeze at my window! Such an entertainment pets can be.

Thanks for saying such nice things about Bira @Asli Telli - I think if we just get all cat/dog/pet families here, we'll have a mini wellness community of our own and we'll have enough to cheer everybody up every single day!

Your work sounds very interesting @Asli Telli and also sounds like something that makes you end up with a massive literature search bookmarks list or a rabbit hole of fascinating studies! What a lovely photo this is - makes me want to visit! You know, I studied in Germany for a very brief while as an exchange student. Fell in love with the natural beauty of the place! You're right, things are so volatile and have been so for so long now, they've changed the way we do everything. Even altered the way we think about what we have in our lives and what we can make of it. While staying at home may seem to give us a lot of personal time, I think that's not the case at all. Frankly, I don't recall the last time I took a real break and I'm sure so many others feel the same. More than ever, this is the time for us to talk to each other on communities like these. I am so glad you are here. 😃 It's like familiar faces in a new country...so yay!

Aski Telli, Fell in love with the greenery (as I used to do always) and remembered me of my childhood pen pal Julia from Germany. Missed the connection as we shifted houses but still remembers the three horses she had.

Don't you own or associate with horses?
