What is the grand plan for a community such as this? It's hard to focus on what's important to us without a vision statement for how we would like the world to change because of this community. This is long-term, aspirational stuff - but will help guide us to make decisions and focus when faced with multiple options. We'd love to have your feedback on this, so feel free to give it.

R Voice Vision

We want to empower researchers to face the challenges of academia, to be more accepting of themselves and others, to support each other on their research journeys, and to feel valued as a member of the academic and wider community.

We want to initiate real change in how researchers are supported, making sure they have a supportive, social environment in which they have the time, security, and respect they need to thrive and excel in their own fields. This change will be the responsibility of researchers themselves, as well as their institutions, funders, and publishers.

@Akrit K I completely agree that improving academia as a system needs the collective effort of researchers, institutions, funders and publishers. Really appreciate this stance of RVoice. 🙏

Hope the core ideas/messages arising out of conversations here at RVoice as individual researchers can be transmitted to institutions, funders and publishers. Or it might be great if there are chances to include instutions/funders/publishers in the types of conversations we have here at RVoice on initiating systemic changes.

Hi @Raj sundaram ! It is great to hear from you. 😀

I completely agree with you that the collective view from this community needs to reach out to the larger stakeholders to augment some of the much required changes.

We are definitely working towards that goal with the Mental Health Survey being one of the many more steps to come in that direction.

The ideology of this platform is already so ethical. I, as an R Voicer, very much wish its founding idea gets a concrete shape.
